r-venturists to receive investment and grooming support from TiE & TAN

Dhaka, 23 October 2019: The leading digital services provider of the country, Robi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TiE Dhaka and The Angels Network (TAN) to facilitate the startup initiatives of r-ventures, an initiative of Robi to promote and develop startup ecosystem of Bangladesh.

This MoU will provide mentoring and grooming support from TiE Dhaka and investment opportunities from TAN to the entrepreneurs of r-ventures 2.0.

The signing ceremony recently took place at the Robi Corporate Office. Robi’s Managing Director and CEO, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Chief Digital Services Officer, Shihab Ahmad, Chairman of TAN, Sonia Bashir Kabir, President of TiE Dhaka & Vice Chairman of TAN, Rubaba Dowla, Advisor TiE Dhaka, Shameem Ahsan, and Advisor of TAN, Prajeet Balasubramanium were present in the signing ceremony along with the high officials from both side.

r-venture is an initiative by Robi for the entrepreneurs of Bangladesh to bring their dreams to realization. r-ventures 1.0 was launched internally in 2017 exclusively among Robi employees. After its successful outcome, Robi announced to launch this initiative as r-ventures 2.0 on a bigger scale in 2019.

TiE is a non-profit organization, founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley, devoted to entrepreneurs in all industries, at all stages, from incubation, throughout the entrepreneurial lifecycle. It aims to launch various flagship programs for startups, university students, and women entrepreneurs to foster entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking, education, incubating, and funding.

TAN is a consortium of angel investors in Bangladesh, formed in April 2019 and is already working with 25+ angel investors who are sector agnostic and ready to invest in different vertical markets. It is also currently working closely with 30+ startups and evaluating their solutions.
