bdapps organizes developers’ conference for University students

Dhaka, January 16, 2020: The largest appstore of the country, bdapps, has recently organized a developers’ conference at the United International University (UIU) auditorium. A total of 300 apps developers from thirty universities from around the country attended the conference.

Hon’ble State Minister for ICT Division, Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP attended the conference as the chief guest. Robi’s Managing Director and CEO, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed attended the programme as the guest of honour. Vice-Chancellor of UIU, Professor Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman and Robi’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Shihab Ahmad were present as the special guests.

Acknowledging the tremendous progress made by bdapps, the ICT State Minister expressed his keen interest to work with bdapps. He said that the Government is planning to work with bdapps to facilitate the dynamic youth of the country to engage in digital innovation. Alluding to the imminent fourth industrial revolution, he opined that very soon the job market is going to be transformed; need for physical labour will be eliminated, giving rise to the demand for digital skillset.

State Minister, Palak urged the youth to take the benefit of the rising internet penetration in the country by developing mobile apps that can solve people’s problem. He assured them that the Government is working hard to raise internet penetration by focusing on the 3As- Availability, Affordability & Awareness.

Addressing the developers, Robi’s Managing Director and CEO, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said, “We will do everything possible to maximize opportunity for apps developers associated with bdapps to grow their digital business. We don’t want to be regarded as a nation that only consumes apps from global apps platforms, rather we want to emerge as the powerhouse for apps development in the global arena. bdapps will be with you all the way to make sure we get there as a country,” he elaborated.

Robi’s CCO, Shihab Ahmad informed the gathering that within five years, bdapps has emerged as the largest application ecosystem of the country. He also informed that 8,000 apps developers have so far hosted 14,000 apps on the appstore till now and expressed his hope that by the end of the year, the platform would be able to host 30,000 apps by engaging with 15,000 apps developers. bdapps would be connecting 50,000 apps developers to the platform, Shihab told the gathering.
